Nationally, Phi Sigma Kappa devotes its philanthropic efforts towards The Special Olympics, an organization founded for the purpose of bringing the joy of sport to those with intellectual disabilities. The world’s largest sports organization of its kind, The Special Olympics brings together more than 4.7 million athletes in 169 countries, plus over a million volunteers
The Lambda Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa holds an event every fall in order to help contribute towards the efforts of The Special Olympics. Around the weekend of Halloween, the brothers transform their townhouse into a haunted house, complete with smoke machines, spooky decorations, and scary costumes. Solely run by the brothers for the GW community, the admission is a suggested $5 donation, which goes directly to The Special Olympics. In 2016 alone, the brothers were able to raise over $900!
